demark!

2010 in review

In Uncategorized on January 2, 2011 at 6:34 pm

Where I’m at: Arlington (t-minus 40 days until Brazzaville)

What I’m doing: trying to nurse my still lovely wife back to help (I hope cinnamon-0range rolls are an appropriate substitute for antibiotics…cuz that’s what she’s getting)

Why I’m posting: thanks for a successful first blawg year!

__________

Well, 2010 is but a distant memory at this point. It was an interesting year, as usual, which I suppose is the most any of us can hope for. But rather than recounting it all here (and thus removing the incentive to parse through my old posts!), I’m just going to share the automated WordPress update I was just sent. What a successful blog year, despite the fact that the American Bar Association didn’t recognize Blah Blah Blawg as one of its Top 100 Blawgs of 2010. I feel gipped, but I suppose they favored blawgs with heavier…well…law content. Picky picky.

Anyway, thanks for an exciting first year that saw us move 3 times, take and pass some big tests, and start planning our new life in Congo-Brazzaville. Preview for 2011: moving to B-ville, getting malaria, pictures of market places, house staff?!, golfing the Congo, and hopefully a visitor or two!

__________

Who said it: T.S. Eliot

Why it’s relevant: ringing in the New Year with a poet that inspires this one

The quote: “For last year’s words belong to last year’s language and next year’s words await another voice.”
